The Cleveland Guardians desperately need multiple players to emerge to improve the trajectory of their lineup, which once again proved to be a letdown in the postseason and led to the team bowing out unceremoniously prior to reaching the ultimate goal of the World Series. There are still holes everywhere, but there is hope that help is coming down the pipeline sooner rather than later.
Luckily for Guardians fans, there are a number of prospects getting closer to reaching the majors who should be able to provide some much-needed thump to what, at times, has been a lifeless lineup. With the team pretty clearly skimping out on finding improvements in free agency once again, there is more pressure on the prospects to live up to the hype, and one outfield prospect is already looking poised for a big 2026. According to Baseball America, 20-year-old Jaison Chourio could be positioned for a big 2026 if he can stay healthy.
With just a .665 OPS in 2025 between High-A and rookie ball, Chourio is looking to take the next step and reestablish himself among this team’s best prospects.
“Jaison Chourio has solid contact metrics. If he comes back healthy in 2026 with improved angles, he could reestablish himself as one of the Guardians’ top position player prospects,” Baseball America posted on X.

Chourio has been playing winter ball in Venezuela and has looked much improved with a .299 batting average and .787 OPS. His BB:K ratio remains strong, which is one of his most impressive traits and something that gives fans and scouts plenty of hope that he’ll blossom into a star one day. He has more walks than strikeouts over his minor league career, so his .237 batting average in 2025 can hopefully be chalked up to injuries and bad luck.
He still has a ways to go to reach the majors, but for a player as athletic as he is with the plate discipline and ability to consistently hit the ball hard, he gives plenty of reason for hope.
