The Cleveland Guardians have always taken pride in their ability to build their roster. Unlike other teams, they’re not going to bend over backwards to spend big money and engage in bidding wars to get the most sought-after players in the industry.
Instead, they’ll look to find and develop their own players. And while a lot of that has to do with their scouting overseas, they’ve also found some gems in the MLB Draft.
With that in mind, the fans should be thrilled to know that this team will have three picks inside the top 60 in the 2026 MLB Draft. As shown by the MLB, they will have the No. 19, No. 29, and No. 60 selections. If that wasn’t good enough, they will also be on the clock at No. 97, No. 127, and No. 158.
The Guardians can take multiple approaches to this draft. Of course, they know that it’s highly unlikely that whoever they get with any of these selections will be able to contribute next year. At best, it might take a couple of seasons before they’re actually ready to be a factor.
More than that, some of those players may never even play in the majors, or they may not be a part of the organization for long. Drafting isn’t an exact science, and a lot of things can go sideways. Even so, this team has always thrived in these situations, boasting one of the best farm systems in the game.
There’s no reason to believe this time will be any different.
