The Cleveland Guardians pulled off a stunning late-season comeback to swipe the AL Central crown away from the Detroit Tigers over the final few games of the season, but the run was short-lived. Detroit wound up knocking Cleveland out of the playoffs in the Wild Card round, leaving this fan base once again hoping for upgrades this offseason to help bump this team up to the next level.
One of the standout performers down the stretch was starting pitcher Tanner Bibee, who went 3-0 with a 1.30 ERA in September. As good as he was during the late-season playoff push, he didn’t have the best season overall and needs to take another step forward for his teammates in 2026.
Guardians Prospective shared a clip of Bibee’s recent workout as he begins the process of getting in shape for next year. The video showed him participating in a difficult pilates class, which should help him with his flexibility and longevity.

Packing on muscle isn’t always the proper move for a pitcher, as added mass can present an injury risk. Bibee has been one of the most durable pitchers over the past two years, making 62 starts total and throwing over 185 innings in each season when factoring in the postseason.
Cleveland’s rotation left some meat on the bone this past season, as Bibee was one of four pitchers to make at least 16 starts and post an ERA over 4.2. The Guardians need more innings, better run prevention, and a healthy, pliable Bibee represents a guy who could be ready to make a big leap to help lead this rotation.
