When it comes to quality starting pitching, few teams in MLB boast the depth of the Cleveland Guardians.
They have so many options that they would rather trade Shane Bieber if it will represent an offensive upgrade.
That would have been unthinkable a couple of years ago, but things change.
One of those pitchers who could help carry the Guardians’ rotation is Triston McKenzie.
A myriad of injury issues limited his availability (16 innings) and performance (5.06 ERA) in 2023.
However, the world knows what he can do when healthy: he posted a 2.96 ERA in 191.1 innings pitched in 2022.
McKenzie, who suffered a strained right teres major and then a right elbow strain, is trying to leave last year behind.
He continues to prepare for 2024.
However, he also has some time to share with the kids in a noble cause.

Luzardo is a star for the Miami Marlins, while Edwards made his MLB debut for the franchise in 2023.
Eder hasn’t made the majors yet.
McKenzie, however, was popular among the kids: they see a role model and an example in him.
The 26-year-old hurler was born in Brooklyn, New York, but spent a lot of time in Florida when he was young and actually attended Royal Palm Beach High School in Royal Palm Beach, Florida.
It’s always nice to see current stars committed to leaving their mark in the next generation.
