A former Cleveland Guardians star isn’t going anywhere. Despite his age and history of injuries, he’s not ready to call it quits just yet.
According to a report by MLB insider Harrison Smajovits on X, the Atlanta Braves have brought back RHP Carlos Carrasco. They gave him a minor league deal, with Darius Vines also getting one.

Both players chose to test the open market after being eligible for minor league contracts. However, in the end, that may have been the best choice for them.
Carrasco got a minor league deal with the New York Yankees earlier this year. He even made the Yankees’ Opening Day roster because of some injuries.
Then again, after watching him post a 5.91 ERA in 32 innings of work with Aaron Boone’s team, he was designated for assignment and outrighted twice. Still, he’s clearly not done yet.
The veteran decided to pass on free agency both times, but he still found a new home with the Braves just before the deadline. They were dealing with several injuries of their own, and he was a well-known veteran.
Even so, Carrasco didn’t do well at all in Atlanta. He posted a 9.88 ERA in 13.2 innings and was designated for assignment and outrighted again in August. He ultimately re-signed with the team after opting for free agency.
Carrasco is now entering his 17th season in the majors. Once a star in Cleveland, he’s not likely to have a big role after posting a 6.36 ERA since the start of the 2023 season.
