The Cleveland Guardians have a good problem on their hands right now.
This team has way too many mouths to feed in the middle of the infield.
And with former No. 1 pick Travis Bazzana also on his way, it only makes sense that they look to part ways with some of them.
With that in mind, team analyst Joe Noga predicted that they would have to trade one of their players:
“Is there room for Bazzana, Brito, Angel Martinez, Daniel Schneemann, Rocchio and Arias on the Guardians roster? I don’t think there is,” Noga stated bluntly. “There’s a possibility that you make a trade, and I’ve been banging that drum for years, every offseason.”
Daniel Schneemann is a very valuable piece.
He can play multiple positions, so the team would be wise to keep him around.
Angel Martinez is a work in progress.
Still, it’s hard to believe the Guardians would be willing to give up on him.
Brayan Rocchio lost his job early in the season, but he closed out the year on a high note.
Even so, he could be one of the strongest candidates to be traded.
Gabriel Arias had some timely hits, and he beat Rocchio for his spot at one point.
Then again, his inconsistency at the plate might also be enough for the team to consider moving on from him.
Whatever the case, one thing is for sure: This team will give Travis Bazzana as many chances to succeed as he needs.
That’s not to say that they will make him an everyday starter right out of the gate.
But even if he struggles early, they’re still fully committed to him for years to come, and as such, they will have to find a way to get him on the field, and that means moving other pieces.
