The Cleveland Guardians had high hopes and aspirations for their No. 2 prospect this season.
Unfortunately, they had to wait until the playoffs to watch him take the field.
Now, they want to take things slowly again with him.
As reported by Guardians Prospective on X, they don’t plan for Chase DeLauter to take part in the Arizona Fall League.
He was initially expected to be there, but plans may have changed after watching him make his MLB debut:
“Cleveland Guardians OF Chase DeLauter will not participate in the Arizona Fall League as previously scheduled. DeLauter is being replaced on the Surprise Saguaros roster by OF prospect Joe Lampe,” via Guardians Prospective.

The young outfielder became just the sixth player in MLB history to make his debut in the postseason.
He made the roster ahead of the Wild Card round three-game series vs. the Detroit Tigers.
When asked about that unusual decision, manager Stephen Vogt gushed about his offensive abilities, adding that they were in big need of a spark at the plate.
He wound up having six at-bats, logging one single, one walk, and one strikeout.
He also committed an error, but he showcased his arm strength and proved to be unfazed by the bright lights.
This speaks volumes about the confidence this team has in DeLauter.
And given his history of injuries, the team might be doing the right thing by shutting him down and just allowing him to get some rest.
He should be a strong candidate to make the roster right off the bat, along with fellow young stars C.J. Kayfus, George Valera, and maybe even Travis Bazzana, the former No. 1 pick and the No. 1 prospect in the organization.
