The Cleveland Guardians expected and needed a lot from Tanner Bibee this season.
He didn’t always deliver.
He was projected to be the team’s ace, and while there were some instances when he was a dominant force, he also struggled with consistency for most of the season.
Nevertheless, he delivered when the team needed him the most, and his passion and emotion only showed how much he cared.
That’s why Carlos Baerga believes he’s emerging as a true leader in that clubhouse.
In the latest edition of his show, the team legend gushed about Bibee and the impact he’s had on the team, not only when he’s on the mound but as a leader:
“The Bibee pitcher against Detroit has been winning eight in a row. He won three games, but the games before, our team wins. Our team believes in him. That’s why he’s a leader. That’s what gave us the opportunity to come back in a game. You need a leader like that in your pitching staff,” Baerga said.

The Guardians will enter the offseason with some questions in the rotation.
They closed out the year on a high note, and multiple players proved that they should get some strong consideration to take the mound early and often next season.
Of course, it should go without saying that Bibee is guaranteed to get a spot in that rotation.
He knows better than anybody that he didn’t always get the job done, and he will be the first to let everybody know that expectations were much higher for him.
But the talent is still there, and he proved what he was capable of down the stretch by taking down the Detroit Tigers in three crucial games.
Hopefully, he will be closer to the ace we all know he can be next season.
