If there’s something the Cleveland Guardians know about, it is beating the odds.
They defied all logic to not only make the playoffs but to do so as a division champion.
That’s why they might not care much about FanGraphs’ World Series odds.
The Guardians have the worst odds among the 12 playoff teams at 1.4 percent.
Fangraphs World Series odds:

That’s even lower than the 3.5 percent of the Detroit Tigers, who were dominated by the Guardians and passed by them for the AL Central title down the stretch.
This shows that the AL Wild Card series would be the end of the line for Cleveland, which faces Detroit in the first round.
Granted, the Tigers have an edge on the mound in Game 1 with ace Tarik Skubal, but their offense is missing in action, and their bullpen has left a lot to be desired.
As things stand, the Seattle Mariners lead the way at 20.4 percent, followed by the Philadelphia Phillies (16.6 percent) and Los Angeles Dodgers (16.4 percent).
Of course, these odds will change after every postseason game, and it will be interesting to see how they shift in the Guardians’ favor if they can take care of business against Skubal in the opener.
The Guardians have been the most resilient team in baseball, and they didn’t get this far just to lay down and call it a day.
Hopefully, this report will continue to fuel their fire.
