The Cleveland Guardians are officially a playoff team.
What seemed to be impossible just a couple of weeks ago is now a reality.
Of course, they had to do it in the purest Cleveland Guardians fashion, clinching their berth on a walk-off hit-by-pitch.
It was a fitting (almost) ending to a regular season that has been full of ups and downs and drama.
As pointed out by Cleveland sports analyst Sam Amico on X, they did make history with this win.
It was the first time that a team that was 11 games behind in the divisional race in September ended up punching its ticket to play in October.
No team has ever been 11 games back in September and played in October. Until now. #GuardsBall

The Guardians also overcame the largest divisional deficit in MLB history.
No team had trailed by as many as 15.5 games at one point in the season and wound up winning the division.
Again, it wasn’t going to happen without some major drama.
After taking the first two games of the series and passing the slumping Detroit Tigers in the standings, they dropped a couple of games to sound the alarms.
Still, just like what happened throughout the course of the regular season, this team never stopped pushing and fighting.
It took them a little more work than it should’ve, but they still managed to take care of business.
Now, this should be the type of team that feels absolutely invincible ahead of the start of the playoffs.
And while they might not have the most talent, it’s hard to think of a hotter team in baseball right now.
