The Cleveland Guardians’ season could depend on the next three games.
They will meet the Detroit Tigers for the second time this month, and the stakes have never been higher.
That’s why Guardians manager Stephen Vogt wants to see their fans pack Progressive Field for the three-game series.
“We couldn’t be more excited to get back home,” Vogt said. “I know these are school nights. I know people work. But we need to pack-out Progressive Field. We need our fans. Our boys are going to be ready to play. We’d love to see as many fans as possible. We know what’s at stake. It’s going to be a lot of fun this week.”
The Guardians have fought their way back into playoff contention and can’t afford to take their foot off the gas.
Also, with the Tigers just one game ahead of them in the AL Central, this is the perfect opportunity to pass them in the divisional race.
The Guardians swept the Tigers in their previous three-game series.
Detroit got off to a red-hot start, but it has completely fallen apart lately.
The MLB regular season is a long grind, so it’s never about how you start the season but about how you close it out.
The Guardians had to endure a brutal stretch of 24 games in as many days, including one doubleheader, and had just one day off.
The rotation has been stellar, and the bullpen has also been up to the task.
All pressure is now on the Tigers, while the Guardians and their fans have to love their chances with the way they’ve played lately.
