The Cleveland Guardians need everybody on the same page to close the season on a high note.
Fortunately, they have one of the best players in the game.
Jose Ramirez is one of the top hitters in baseball, which is why Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report placed him in the second tier of MLB batters in his latest rankings.
“Even if he’s not challenging 40 home runs again, this is still a ho-hum season by one of the league’s most consistent superstars. Ramírez has struck out (63) barely more often than he’s walked (55), and his general hitting strategy (which is basically to pull everything) predictably is still working well in a post-shift world,” Rymer wrote.
Ramirez isn’t the most vocal or outspoken player and doesn’t play for a big-market team, either.
That might be the only reason he doesn’t get talked about enough and why he hasn’t been a top-three AL MVP candidate more often.
The third baseman doesn’t seem to care about any of that.
Ramirez is leading the Guardians in most offensive categories this season, and it isn’t particularly close.
On top of that, he continues to climb the franchise leaderboards almost every time he steps up to the plate.
He’s second in RBIs, and if he continues his pace, he’s going to be the all-time leader sooner rather than later.
More than that, he’s going to retire as its leader in multiple categories, barring a shocking turn of events.
