When it rains, it pours for the Cleveland Guardians.
Lane Thomas hasn’t been able to do much this season, and his chances of getting back on the field have now taken a big hit.
According to Guardians Prospective, the outfielder will have to see a specialist after dealing with some pain on his rehab assignment.
“Thomas is set to visit a foot specialist after recurrence of right foot pain sidelined him from making the start,” it wrote on X.

Thomas, who has struggled with the injury for months, was slated to start in center field for Double-A Akron but was a late scratch after experiencing some pain.
After Thomas meets with the specialist, the Guardians likely will share more information regarding a potential timeline for his return.
However, considering the way things have gone for him this season, perhaps they would be better off erring on the side of caution.
Even when healthy, Thomas hasn’t done much to get playing time, with a .160 batting average in 125 at-bats.
Yet, he is one of the best hitters on the team when healthy, and they could certainly use a player of his caliber in the final stretch of the season.
However, even though they’re fighting for their playoff lives, and as good a player as Thomas can be, it might be better for him to get back to full strength and return next season.
