The Cleveland Guardians know a thing or two about developing talent.
It takes time and patience, sometimes to a fault, to get the best out of promising players.
That might be the case with Brayan Rocchio.
The infielder, who earned a starting spot in spring training, was ultimately demoted back to Triple-A because of his offensive struggles.
That proved to be the right decision, as he’s been much better since his return.
As pointed out by Guardians Prospective on X, Rocchio went from hitting .161 on July 1 all the way to .237.
He’s up to the fourth-highest batting average on the team, trailing only Jose Ramirez (.284), Steven Kwan (.277) and Kyle Manzardo (.238).
On July 1st Brayan Rocchio was hitting .161 on the season.
Rocchio is currently 4th on the team with a .237 AVG just behind Manzardo's .238.

Rocchio is a very promising player with a bright future, and the Guardians will have an interesting decision to make next season.
Travis Bazzana, their No. 1 prospect and No. 16 prospect in all of baseball, will most likely either make the 40-man roster out of the gate or be called up early in the season.
That will leave Rocchio or Gabriel Arias as the odd man out in the middle of the infield.
But judging by the way they’ve both performed, it might be a simple decision for the Guardians.
Bazzana will most likely play second base, with Rocchio reclaiming his spot at shortstop and Arias on the roster for depth.
In the meantime, Rocchio will look to continue showing that he can be a special part of the team’s future.
