The Cleveland Guardians had big plans for Chase DeLauter this season.
Unfortunately, injuries got in the way again.
He’s dealt with multiple ailments this season, and he had surgery to address a lingering wrist issue.
The outfielder is on his way back, taking live batting practice in Arizona.
However, when asked if he’ll be called up to the majors this season, he didn’t want to make any promises.
Talking to Grant Puskar, he shared his best guess for his immediate future.
“From a player’s side, we don’t really know until that time [comes]. If I had to guess, I would expect to see some games in Columbus (Triple-A). I haven’t heard anything else. My personal guess would be that I’m going to head back there, make sure I can get myself out on the field for the last couple of remaining weeks, and then we’ll see what happens,” DeLauter said.
I asked #Guardians Chase DeLauter if he thinks when he's 100% healthy again will he have to go back to Columbus or could he be sent straight to CLE…

A first-round pick in the 2022 MLB Draft, DeLauter was having a strong season in Triple-A.
He reached base safely in all 34 games, batting .278 with 21 RBIs, eight doubles and five home runs.
Then, a hamate fracture in his right wrist sidelined him.
DeLauter should be inching closer to making his return, but he still needs to be cleared to play.
He’s on the seven-day injured list, and with not much time left in the season, he might not get his long-awaited opportunity to make his MLB debut.
DeLauter is as talented and physically gifted as they come, so he will have a chance to make the 40-man roster next season.
Then again, injuries have been a major concern with him throughout his career, and he’ll need to prove that he can stay healthy before getting that consideration.
