The Cleveland Guardians handled Brayan Rocchio perfectly this season.
He wasn’t getting the job done in the majors, and it looked like he still needed to work on his game, get consistent at-bats and rebuild his confidence.
That’s why demoting him to Triple-A Columbus wasn’t a punishment, it was a vote of confidence.
There, he showed some signs of power to get back to the majors.
“When Rocchio was demoted to Columbus after his horrendous start he collected 21 XBH in just 41 games including seven HRs. … Only 24 years old, hopefully he continues to tap into more moving forward,” Guardians Prospective wrote on X.
When Rocchio was demoted to Columbus after his horrendous start he collected 21 XBH in just 41 games including seven HR's.
There is some power in his game, having hit 18 home runs in the minors back in 2022.
Only 24yrs old still hopefully he continues to tap into more moving…

Rocchio went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer in the Guardians’ 3-1 win against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
That was just his third MLB home run of the season, with two in his past three games.
The infielder is 17-for-54 (.315) in 16 games in August as the starting second baseman.
That has improved his MLB numbers to a slash line of .237/.289/.348 to go along with 20 runs scored, 31 RBIs and six stolen bases in 77 games.
The Guardians are set up in the middle infield for years to come, with Rocchio, Gabriel Arias and Travis Bazzana, the No. 1 overall pick from the 2024 MLB Draft.
That will give them a great problem to have, as there will only be so many at-bats up for grabs, and Bazzana likely will be the team’s priority.
Even so, if Rocchio continues to trend up and find some power, it will be very difficult to keep him off the field.
