After defeating the Miami Marlins 9-4 on Thursday, the Cleveland Guardians are one-half a game out of the final AL Wild Card spot and have won five consecutive series.
A big reason for the turnaround has been the uptick in offensive production from a number of players, particularly shortstop Gabriel Arias, who now leads the team in an impressive stat.
“Gabriel Arias up to 39 RBIs with RISP this season after his go-ahead sac fly in the fifth — most on the Guardians,” Tim Stebbins of MLB.com wrote on X.

It’s an impressive achievement, considering Arias is fourth on the team in overall RBIs, 19 fewer than Jose Ramirez, but Ramirez and Kyle Manzardo hit the majority of their home runs with no one on base.
Arias has made solid strides with the bat and is building a legitimate case to be the team’s long-term solution at shortstop.
He is up to nine homers, 20 doubles and 45 RBIs on the season, and his OPS has crept up to .684.
Cleveland’s schedule is set to stay relatively easy through the rest of the month, with series against the Atlanta Braves and Arizona Diamondbacks up next.
With Arias helping lead the charge and delivering consistently clutch at-bats, the playoffs are in Cleveland’s sights.
