The Cleveland Guardians are on a roll.
They’re making the most of an easy schedule to get back in the playoff picture.
That’s why it’s only right that they get a bit of a boost in MLB power rankings.
Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report has the Guardians all the way up to No. 11, improving four spots from the previous week.
“The Guardians are 9-3 in their last 12 games while facing off against the [Colorado] Rockies, [Minnesota] Twins, [New York] Mets and [Chicago] White Sox, and another favorable week awaits with the [Miami] Marlins and [Atlanta] Braves coming to town. Cleanup hitter Kyle Manzardo has a 1.140 OPS with five home runs and 15 RBIs in 18 games since the All-Star break,” Reuter wrote.
There was a point when the Guardians were considered to be one of the worst teams in baseball, and watching them crawl back has been both stressful and impressive.
They never stopped believing and made it clear they wouldn’t stop fighting until the end of the season.
That hard-nosed mindset has paid off.
The Guardians are now in a prime position to not only aim for an AL Wild Card, but they can also realistically try to win the AL Central.
The team is peaking at the right time and has one of the best records in baseball over the past month.
Of course, not having closer Emmanuel Clase down the stretch will be a situation to keep an eye on, and they could use another hitter.
But there is hope, and this team has already shown that it will battle with everything it’s got to get to where it wants to be.
