The Cleveland Guardians have played nine games in August.
They’ve won seven of them.
Despite losing the series finale against the struggling Chicago White Sox, Stephen Vogt’s team has been the best in all of baseball for the best part of a month now.
However, as Nick Pedone knows, any team can go ice-cold as quickly as they get red-hot.
That’s why, talking on the Bruce Drennan Show, he emphasized the importance of being consistent:
“That’s the thing for the Guards, right? As fun as this last week has been, and they certainly are making ground, the consistency is going to be the biggest thing. They need to be able to continue to score runs like they’ve been able to over this stretch,” Pedone said.
The #Guardians NEED to stay consistent while gaining ground in the Wildcard race. #GuardsBall
"They certaintly are making ground."

The Guardians are now just half a game behind the New York Yankees for the final AL Wild Card spot.
More than that, they’ve closed the gap between them and the Detroit Tigers, so they now have a legitimate chance to close out the season as the AL Central division champions.
That seemed to be off the table just a couple of months ago, which, again, goes to show how important it is to bounce back after a cold stretch.
The Guardians have one of the easiest schedules left in the league, and they should continue to be in a position to make a strong postseason run.
They might also get John Means back on the mound at some point, as he just threw 2.0 innings in the Arizona Complex League.
And with a young and promising slugger like C.J. Kayfus also giving the team a much-needed offensive boost for the final stretch of the campaign, things are looking promising for a team that looked like they didn’t stand a chance before the All-Star break.
