The Cleveland Guardians continue to have one of the most proficient farm systems in baseball.
It’s the gift that keeps on giving, and they may have found their new gem.
As pointed out by Justin Lada on X, Yorman Gomez just posted the best game of his young career.
The 22-year-old Venezuelan hurler tossed six innings and gave up two hits, one earned run, and one walk.
However, the most impressive part is that he struck out a career-high 10 hitters.

10K (career high)Gomez has really popped this year in the system. 92-95 (has touched 97). Has a big 12-6 breaker. Solid slider/cutter. Changeup. Control is usually fringe.
Been a fun little breakout follow pic.twitter.com/FP71loExn3

Gomez has split time this season between High-A Lake County and Double-A Akron.
He’s turned some heads in the farm system his season, with his fastball sitting around 92-95 mph.
Per Lada, his control – or lack thereof – has been a bit of an issue, but he also has a solid set of breaking balls.
The Guardians know they can’t always compete with the big markets, and they need to make the most of their elite scouting and player development system to keep up with the powerhouses.
Like all young players, Gomez still has to go through a bit of a learning curve and adjustment period before being ready to take his talents to the big show.
But given the way he’s performed at Double-A so far, he should be a strong candidate to begin next season at Triple-A Columbus and, who knows? Maybe even get called up as early as next season.
He’s still got a long way to go, but he’s most definitely trending in the right direction after back-to-back strong outings.
