The Cleveland Guardians are enjoying one of their best stretches of the season.
They have won seven of their past eight games and are getting closer to an AL Wild Card spot.
While they make an improbable run at the postseason, it’s important to note that there are also interesting things going on down in the farm.
One of them is the development of second baseman and future franchise player Travis Bazzana.
The infielder recently returned from an oblique strain and seems to be doing fine at Double-A.
“Cleveland Guardians 22-year-old (2B) prospect Travis Bazzana extended his on-base streak to seven games tonight with his 11th double of the season in the 1st inning tonight for Akron. During 7-game streak: 8-27, 7R, 3(2B), 1HR, 4RBI, 4BB, AVG .296, OBP .406,” Guardians Prospective wrote on X.

That first-inning double was Bazzana’s only hit of the game, but it helped him maintain his streak.
Before his injury, there was chatter about Bazzana being promoted to Triple-A.
It put a halt to those plans, but now that he’s back to full health, it’s fair to wonder if the Guardians will send him to Triple-A soon to test his MLB readiness.
Seeing him in the majors this year is a long shot, but Triple-A represents a more realistic scenario.
Given the fact that he has a 141 wRC+ in Double-A, it could happen any day now.
He is no longer being challenged in the Eastern League.
