Cleveland Guardians fans are witnessing history in the making with every at-bat.
Jose Ramirez continues to establish himself as one of the greatest players in franchise history every single time he takes the field.
That’s why it’s not much of a surprise to read his name on Jeffrey Lutz’s list of the 20 players making a case to be a franchise legend.
Moreover, it’s not a surprise to see him being one of the players who are on the ‘already there’ tier:
“A Hall of Fame case is crystallizing for Ramírez, who recently became the first third baseman in MLB history to collect at least 275 home runs and 275 stolen bases,” Lutz wrote.
Ramirez leads the Guardians in multiple categories this season, and he’s in the top five in several all-time rankings.
As things stand now, he’s No. 4 in WAR (56.7), No. 3 in games played (1,561), No. 3 in at-bats (5,792), No. 4 in runs scored (971), No. 7 in hits (1,623), No. 2 in total bases (2,926), No. 3 in doubles (385), No. 2 in home runs (278), No. 3 in RBI (925), No. 3 in stolen bases (275), No. 4 in runs created (1,086), No. 2 in extra-base hits (705), and No. 1 in intentional walks (105).
More importantly, given his age and durability, he’s got a legitimate chance to be at the top of the list in several of those categories once it’s all said and done.
Ramirez has established himself as the absolute best third baseman in all of baseball, and it’s not even close.
He’s also a class act on and off the field, someone who leads by example, and a fan favorite.
Hopefully, not only will he spend his entire career with the organization, but he’ll be able to win the ring he so clearly deserves.
