The Cleveland Guardians have some significant talent right now.
Even if they don’t make the playoffs this season, they have a solid core to build around.
With that in mind, former Cleveland star Carlos Baerga shared his honest thoughts on the middle infield of Gabriel Arias and Brayan Rocchio.
“You know what I like? Rocchio and Arias, shortstop, second base. These guys are gonna be here for a long time,” Baerga said.

Of course, Travis Bazzana is waiting his turn, as the No. 1 overall pick from the 2024 MLB Draft is a crucial part of the organization’s future.
Nevertheless, he remains a prospect, and an injury and some early-season woes may have altered Cleveland’s plans for him this season, at least.
He should be a factor in the near future, but until then, Arias and Rocchio should be the two mainstays in the middle of the infield.
Arias is an outstanding defender who’s better on offense when he gets regular at-bats.
Rocchio has struggled this season, but it looked like he only needed to get his confidence back, and a trip to Triple-A has done wonders for his game.
The Guardians still have a steep hill to climb to make the playoffs this season, but even if they fall short, they should be set at a few key positions for years to come.
