The Cleveland Guardians keep making moves.
Shortly after reportedly agreeing to send Shane Bieber to the Toronto Blue Jays, they’re now moving Paul Sewald.
According to MLB insider Bob Nightengale, they will send the veteran right-hander to the Detroit Tigers.

The Guardians will get a player to be named later or cash, and the Tigers will take on the remainder of Sewald’s contract.
The former Seattle Mariners star was diagnosed with a major shoulder strain.
He was placed on the injured list on July 15, and there’s no timetable for his return, so getting rid of his contract while landing someone in return is a bit of a win.
A moderate strain suggests that he might not be ready to return at any point soon, and he could be looking at September or even October as a potential return date.
Prior to that injury, he had made 18 appearances, logging a 4.70 ERA with a 1.17 WHIP with 18 strikeouts and four walks in 15.1 innings.
Not so long ago, the 35-year-old used to be one of the best closers in the game.
His career got off to a rocky start with the New York Mets, but he looked like an absolute force in Seattle, logging 52 saves for the Mariners over three seasons.
He was sent to the Arizona Diamondbacks at the 2023 trade deadline, and he hasn’t been the same player ever since.
He picked up 29 saves for the D-Backs, but his ERA skyrocketed to 4.08 and his strikeout rate dropped all the way to 25.7%.
