The Cleveland Guardians recently had one of their best performances of the season.
They defeated the Colorado Rockies 10-4, and while the opponent wasn’t necessarily the toughest, it was refreshing to watch the Guardians keep the momentum going before the trade deadline.
Notably, a lot of that had to do with Logan Allen, who threw 113 pitches in the win.
According to Tim Stebbins of MLB.com, those were the most pitches thrown by a Cleveland starter since May 19, 2021, when Aaron Civale threw 114.
Logan Allen goes 7 IP, 8 H, 2 R/2 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 2 HR on 113 pitches (78 strikes)

Allen gave up two runs on eight hits while issuing one walk and striking out three.
The Guardians have been getting a big bump from their rotation lately, with most of their starters going deep into games.
Yet, this was the first time that Allen went at least seven innings since July 24, 2024.
The Guardians were up by seven runs by the third inning, so there wasn’t a lot of pressure along the way.
He induced weak contact for the most part, aside from two solo homers.
He’s now given up three runs or fewer in eight of his past nine starts, lowering his ERA to 4.06.
His next outing will be much more challenging, though, as he’s slated to face the New York Mets on the road.
