The Cleveland Guardians are going through a bit of a crisis right now.
If losing Luis L. Ortiz due to an investigation about an alleged sports gambling scheme wasn’t bad enough, now Emmanuel Clase is also reportedly involved.
That, plus the team’s inability to develop hitters, quiet free-agency moves, and overall lack of aggressiveness to improve the roster, has finally infuriated team analyst Adam Gerstenhaber.
Talking on the “Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show,” Gerstenhaber called for the president of baseball operations, Chris Antonetti, and the entire front office to be fired.
“I think Chris Antonetti and the entire front office needs to be fired. I’m sure it’s not going to happen, but I had already lost faith in this front office,” Gerstenhaber said.
The renowned pundit claimed that he had already lost faith in this group of decision-makers, but after watching how things have unfolded this season, there’s simply no reason to keep them around for much longer.
He also admitted that he didn’t think that would happen, and it might not even be a popular opinion among some fans.
Of course, you can’t blame the front office for some of the things that have happened, including the players’ alleged involvement in this sports gambling scandal.
But, to be fair, they haven’t fared much better in terms of free agency or trades, either.
With the trade deadline just around the corner and the Guardians much more likely to be sellers than buyers, chances are that most of the fans will feel the same way as Gerstenhaber about the front office.
