The Cleveland Guardians are in the thick of the American League playoff race despite being just 52-52, as the team has roared back from a 10-game losing skid just before the All-Star Break to get back to .500.
Throughout the season, Cleveland’s offense has been a major problem, and even though things have turned around a bit lately, thanks to a softer schedule, analyst Bruce Drennan isn’t sure about the turnaround.
During a recent episode of Bonus Time, Drennan expressed frustration that nobody in the lineup is hitting .300 and questioned whether or not the offense can keep up its recent production.
“Can this lineup keep producing runs like they have recently? I’m not convinced. Nobody in this lineup is hitting .300, including All-Star Steven Kwan and superstar Jose Ramirez. Ramirez is at .295 and Kwan is at .285,” Drennan said.
Bruce is NOT convinced this #Guardians lineup can keep up the hitting production. #GuardsBall

To be fair, there are only six qualified hitters in the entire league hitting over .300 at the moment, because posting a high batting average has become a lost art.
When you look at it that way, Ramirez and Kwan are near the top of the list in that department, but as a whole, the Guardians couldn’t be more disappointing in that aspect.
Cleveland ranks dead last in the majors with a .225 team batting average while also ranking in the bottom three in on-base percentage and slugging percentage as well.
There is some outstanding talent coming down the pipeline soon from the minors, and if the Guardians don’t make a splash at the deadline, a late-season call-up or two might be the only way to give this offense the shot in the arm that it needs.
