The Cleveland Guardians have found plenty of reasons for optimism during their recent surge back into playoff contention.
However, few moments have been as surprising as Steven Kwan’s power display against the Baltimore Orioles.
Known primarily for his exceptional contact skills and Gold Glove defense, Kwan delivered something entirely unexpected on July 24 in the series finale.
The typically contact-focused outfielder launched two solo home runs off veteran right-hander Charlie Morton, marking a career milestone that few saw coming.
“Steven Kwan has multiple homers today for the very first time in his career!” Talkin Baseball shared with the clip.

Despite the momentum shift and renewed energy, Cleveland ultimately fell short in a 4-3 loss.
Kwan’s first homer arrived in the third inning, his first since June 13 and seventh of the 2025 season.
The second blast was a no-doubt shot to right field that highlighted subtle improvements in his swing mechanics.
After dealing with wrist soreness before the All-Star break, his resurgence comes at the perfect time for the Guardians.
Through 415 plate appearances this season, Kwan maintains a .285 average with a .348 on-base percentage and .393 slugging mark.
His plate discipline remains exceptional as he continues walking more than striking out. Combined with his defensive reliability, Kwan stays crucial atop Cleveland’s lineup as they chase a playoff spot.
The Guardians have rebounded impressively from a 10-game losing streak, posting a 7-3 record in their last 10 games that evened their season mark at 51-51.
They now sit just 2.5 games back of a Wild Card position with José Ramírez and Kyle Manzardo finding their rhythm while the rotation has stabilized behind Logan Allen’s consistency.
