The Cleveland Guardians will continue to be the Cleveland Guardians.
Regardless of how some fans, analysts or President Donald Trump feel, that’s the reality.
That’s why MLB analyst Andre Knott didn’t hold back in addressing a possible return to their former nickname.
“I find it childish and I found it outlandish. It’s a cartoon character, who cares? You’ve got a team here, still. If it’s racist and wrong, it’s racist and wrong. It’s not even a story. I don’t think the team has taken three seconds out of their time to even worry about or think about this,” Knott said, via ESPN Cleveland.

The only thing that should matter is how the team fares on the field.
Though a nickname is a big part of a team’s identity, it’s nothing compared to the city.
The team is in Cleveland and has no plans of moving, so why wouldn’t fans support it?
In polarized times, everything might seem like a political statement, but that doesn’t have to be the case all the time.
They have been the Guardians for years now, and it feels like there are so many bigger issues to focus on.
If they win the World Series, it’s hard to believe some fans won’t celebrate because they’re now called the Guardians.
