The Cleveland Guardians are showing signs of life.
It’s too early to tell if they can salvage their season, but it’s also too early to say they’re done.
That’s why, after watching them win three of their past four games, everybody’s taking notes.
So it’s not much of a surprise to see that they’ve moved up a couple of spots in Bleacher Report’s latest power rankings, going from No. 22 to No. 20.
Granted, it might not be much, but as pointed out by Joel Reuter, it looks like they’re trending up at the right time.
“Since dropping two a season-low eight games below .500 on July 6, the Guardians have gone 8-2 in their last 10 games, picking up series wins over the [Houston] Astros, [Chicago] White Sox and Athletics along the way. They have the second-easiest remaining schedule in baseball, according to Tankathon, so don’t rule them out of the wild-card race just yet,” Reuter wrote.
The Guardians have not gotten back over .500 yet, but they can make a run to return to the playoffs.
Shane Bieber will return sooner rather than later, and while he will most likely be on a pitch count for the first month or so, he’s a legitimate ace who would be a prime reinforcement.
More importantly, it looks like the Guardians’ offense has finally awakened.
They’ve hit 17 homers in their past 10 games, which is tied for the fourth-most during that span.
They’ve also scored 28 runs in their past four games, an average of 7.0 per game.
The team doesn’t want to give up, and as such, the front office should at least consider trying to give the lineup a boost to help the cause.
The Guardians still have a long way to go, but they’re looking much better now.
