The Cleveland Guardians added an absolute flamethrower to their minor league system when they got Franco Aleman.
They took him in the 10th round of the 2021 MLB Draft, and the Florida product has quickly climbed his way up the ladder.
After not making much of a good impression in eight outings as a starter, the Guardians opted to give him a chance as a reliever, and he’s thrived ever since.
He burst onto the team’s radar when he made it to Double-A in 2023, and he didn’t give up a single run in 19 appearances.
He also posted a 42.2% strikeout rate, cutting his walk rate from 3.77 BB/9 to 1.88 BB/9 to prove that he was more than ready to take his talents to Triple-A Columbus.
This season, Aleman struggled early on in the campaign, but as shown by Guardians Prospective on X, he’s right back on track.
Cleveland #Guardians RHP relief prospect Franco Aleman struckout a pair of Iowa batters tonight for Columbus including this one here on a nasty 98.3 mph sinker.

He’s coming off striking out two hitters in the game vs. Iowa, including one with a 98.3 mph sinker.
He finished the game with two strikeouts, no hits allowed, no earned runs given up, and no walks issued.
Also, 10 of his 16 pitches were strikes.
Aleman has been on an absolute heater as of late.
In his last three appearances, he’s only allowed two hits with one walk, three strikeouts, and no earned runs.
Of course, he still needs to prove that he can be this type of player consistently, but given his insane velocity, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him close out the season in the majors.
