The Cleveland Guardians had (and still have) high hopes for Travis Bazzana.
The former No. 1 draft pick looked like a superstar in the making, and some thought he would take the field in the majors at some point this season.
That might no longer be the case, but it won’t be long before he returns to action.
According to a report by Guardians Prospective, the star infielder prospect is expected to be activated off the injured list and rejoin Double-A Akron when they resume play this Friday at Altoona.

Bazzana, who the Guardians took with the first selection in last year’s draft, sustained an internal right oblique strain that forced him to be on the shelf for over a month now.
He was ramping up his baseball activity at the Arizona Complex League, and it looks like he’s right on track and hasn’t suffered any setbacks.
He got hurt in mid-May, and he was given an initial timetable of eight to 10 weeks, meaning the team expected him back in action in late July or early August.
Having him return earlier than that is great news, although the team might also be taking a risk by bringing him back sooner.
He was having a solid year with the RubberDucks before the injury, slashing .252/.362/.433 to go along with a .795 OPS.
He also had five doubles, three triples, four home runs, eight stolen bases, and 17 RBI in 33 games.
