Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez is banged up.
He has suffered multiple nagging injuries in the first half of the season.
Right now, it’s nothing that affects his availability to play for the Guardians, but he is taking advantage of the All-Star break to rest his body and recharge his batteries for what fans hope will be a furious second-half run.
Still, despite not being 100 percent physically, he has been playing at a very high level in recent games.
In fact, no American League player was better than him in the week that just ended.
There is an award that proves it: Ramirez has been crowned the AL Player of the Week.
No surprises here 😮💨

Ramirez helped the Guardians pull closer to .500 with a 46-49 record.
In the week that just finished, J-Ram put up a huge 1.163 OPS with four home runs.
He drove in a whopping 11 runs and reached 50 for the season.
Maybe the most impressive stat about Ramirez’s recent week was his seven stolen bases.
To put it simply, the All-Star third baseman is making a difference on the field, at the plate, and with his legs.
He is doing everything in his power to move the Guardians closer to contention and make them acquire talent around the deadline as opposed to selling.
Many people, and fans, have urged Ramirez to be more vocal about the need for reinforcements this month.
Well, he is doing what he does best: talking on the field.
Out there, he is yelling, screaming for the front office to bring him an impact hitter or two to join him in the lineup.
Will his elite performance be enough?
