The Cleveland Guardians might not play in the biggest market, but they’ve done a solid job of staying competitive more often than not.
Of course, the fans would rather watch the team spend big bucks to keep up with other powerhouses, but that’s just not the way they do things.
Nevertheless, former Guardians star Nick Swisher still believes they’re top-notch.
Talking to Carlos Baerga on his show, Swisher said that it was a blessing to play for this ownership and front office:
“The Dolan’s have been absolutely fantastic. Antonetti’s still doing his thing over there. So just being able to be a part of that amazing organization, because I feel like, out of all the organizations I’ve played with, you got New York, Cleveland, Oakland, I finished in Atlanta, you’re talking about four iconic organizations. For myself, I was just so blessed to be able to have an opportunity to play for them,” Swisher said.

Granted, the fans may not feel the same way.
They have a long history of keeping young players in the minors for a long time, and they also move on from big-name players once they start to get expensive.
Even so, that’s just the way small-market teams have to operate to get by and make sure to stay competitive for the long haul.
Also, there are plenty of things that take place behind closed doors, and former players and trainers have usually had plenty of good things to say about the way they were treated during their days in Ohio.
The fans would love to watch this front office make big moves at the trade deadline, but that’s just not likely to happen, not only this season, but in the future either.
