Travis Bazzana is the Cleveland Guardians’ second baseman of the future.
That future could have been around this time, but a lengthy oblique strain rehab that started in mid-May robbed him of several months.
Currently, he is proving to the organization that he is back to full health during a rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League (Rookie-level).
On Thursday, he logged a base hit off a former Guardians pitcher, Noah Syndergaard, and increased his already lofty ACL numbers.
Cleveland Guardians 22-year-old (2B) prospect Travis Bazzana drives in a run on an RBI base hit tonight in the 5th inning off White Sox RHP Noah Syndergaard in the Arizona Complex League. Bazzana finished (1-3 RBI) at the plate playing five innings at second base in his 3rd rehab game,” Guardians Prospective posted on X.

In four games at the ACL, Bazzana is slashing a solid .222/.462/.333 with a 135 wRC+ and three runs scored.
The elevated OBP is both a product of his patience and the wild nature of rookie-level hurlers.
Still, the important thing is that he is getting some at-bats under his belt and regaining the rhythm that made him a candidate to be promoted to Triple-A, at the very least, before going down in May.
The star prospect has a solid 252/.362/.433 with a 138 wRC+, four home runs, and eight stolen bases in 33 games with Double-A Akron.
He has been, offensively at least, everything the Guardians have hoped for and more.
There is a chance he returns to Akron in the upcoming days.
From there, everything will depend on him.
If he gets hot in the summer, there is a chance Cleveland calls him up to help them in the stretch run if several conditions are met.
