The Cleveland Guardians are not exactly having a good time right now.
They are 40-48, share the AL Central with the best team in the American League, and have lost 10 games in a row as the offense often looks like a bunch of high school leaguers trying to hit triple-digit velocity.
However, we can firmly say that two hitters are doing their best to keep the team afloat, even if they are getting no help from their teammates: Jose Ramirez and Steven Kwan.
Both of them, coincidentally, are All-Stars.
J-Ram had been voted in as a starter a few days ago, and Kwan was confirmed as a reserve on Sunday night.
“Steven Kwan has been selected to the 2025 All-Star Game Roster! This is Steven’s second All-Star selection,” the Guardians posted on X.

The leadoff hitter and Gold Glove left fielder made the 2024 Midsummer Classic as well.
He is a deserving selection since he contributes heavily in all facets of the game: hitting, fielding, and baserunning.
Kwan is slashing a cool .298/.358/.419 with six homers, 11 stolen bases, and a 121 wRC+.
The league average wRC+ is 100, for reference.
Kwan is a perfectly solid table-setter for Cleveland, but it’s too bad no one besides Ramirez and Carlos Santana from time to time actually produces enough quality contact to drive him in consistently.
Regardless of the Guardians’ situation at the moment, it’s definitely nice to see the rest of the league and fans recognize what Kwan brings to the table: an impressive set of all-around skills that make his team better.
