The Cleveland Guardians hit the ground running early on this season, but they’ve failed to keep up the pace.
They went 9-16 in June and had one of the worst offensive months in franchise history.
That most likely means they will be sellers at the trade deadline.
With that in mind, analyst Bruce Drennan shared his thoughts on the only untouchable players on the roster.
Drennan claimed that he would keep Jose Ramirez and Steven Kwan, and he would think about trading Emmanuel Clase.
“If we are sellers, I made a big statement last week that the only untouchables should be Jose and Kwan. I don’t want to trade Kwan. I would trade Clase,” Brennan said.

As harsh as that may sound, it makes some sense.
Kwan has cooled off after a scorching start to the season, but he’s arguably the team’s second-best player by a significant margin.
He’s one of the clubhouse leaders, and he’s 27 years old, so there’s no need to consider moving on from him, regardless of how enticing a potential offer might be.
Clase, on the other hand, has shown steady signs of being in decline, so it might be time to pull the plug before it’s too late.
He used to be the best closer in baseball, and even though he hasn’t been as dominant this season, his trade value should be high enough for the Guardians to get a decent return.
