The Cleveland Guardians have always relied on their farm system. They know they must find and develop the best prospects to have a chance to compete at the highest level.
That approach isn’t going to change any time soon. If anything, they’re going to double down on those efforts to keep adding young talent.
With that in mind, it shouldn’t be a surprise to learn that they’re already thinking ahead multiple years into the future. According to Guardians Prospective, Cleveland has set its sights on Santiago Sanquiz.
The switch-hitting shortstop prospect from Venezuela is training at Cardenales Academy.

The Guardians are said to be the favorites to sign him. Like other prospects his age, he won’t be eligible to join any MLB organization until the 2028 international signing day.
Of course, a lot can change until then. But the fact that he’s already turning heads speaks volumes about his talent and, more importantly, his potential.
He will have to keep working hard and stay focused on his goal. Hopefully, he will also be able to remain healthy and keep improving for when his time comes.
The Guardians have a long history of success with their prospects, and it’s hard to think of a better team to join if you’re a young man trying to make your way in pro baseball.
