The Cleveland Guardians surprised a lot of people this season.
They didn’t seem good enough to do what they did, making MLB history by overcoming a huge deficit to win the AL Central.
However, that’s not enough to convince some people that they are contenders.
Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report recently wrote that the Guardians won’t even be a .500 team in 2026.
He predicted that they will go 78-84.
Truth be told, it’s hard to agree with that assessment.
They will continue to play in one of the softest divisions in baseball, and with ace Tarik Skubal potentially leaving the Detroit Tigers, the Guardians should be the favorites to win it again.
Also, manager Stephen Vogt has already done more than enough to earn the benefit of the doubt.
He has a slightly better record than Terry Francona did in his first two years in charge, and he’s made the playoffs as a division champion in both.
The Guardians are reportedly working on signing Vogt to an extension before he begins the third and final year of his original contract.
While they need to make some moves and add firepower to the offense, there’s no reason to believe the Guardians won’t have a winning record in 2026.
Hopefully, they will keep receipts, and they will take this negative prediction as motivation to prove the doubters wrong.
