The Cleveland Guardians’ offense has been slumping all year.
As of Monday afternoon, they are 21st in baseball with a 94 wRC+.
If it weren’t for Jose Ramirez, Steven Kwan, and Carlos Santana, the lineup would be a bottom-five unit.
On Monday, however, the Guards are getting some reinforcements.
Starting center fielder Lane Thomas is back after being placed on the 10-day injured list recently with a bout of plantar fasciitis.

The struggling Will Wilson, who failed to make a strong impression in the time he had on the big league team, is being sent down to Triple-A in the corresponding move.
Thomas hasn’t had the smoothest season, producing a highly disappointing .119/.169/.136 line in 65 plate appearances.
Still, his postseason run in 2024 and his regular season in 2023 are proof that he boasts the kind of hitting talent that can make a difference in the right situation, and considering the Guardians’ current situation, he is a nice player to have around.
In addition to the plantar fasciitis, he had another injured list stint that started in late April with a bone bruise in his right wrist.
He returned in late May and hurt his foot just a few days after that.
He completed a miraculous recovery from the plantar fasciitis, an injury known to have affected many players for a long time over the years.
He might be a bit limited when running in the upcoming days, but there are no indications of setbacks in his recovery, so he should be good to go.
Thomas, at this point, is more of an asset against left-handed pitching almost exclusively, but even in those specific matchups, they need his help.
