The 2025 Cleveland Guardians are very much like the 2022, 2023, and 2024 versions of the team: good pitching and defense, but a questionable offense.
This is not to say the unit is bad, but every source of consistent power will be welcomed.
That’s exactly why fans waited with so much anticipation for David Fry’s return.
He was one of the Guardians’ breakout stars of the magical 2024 campaign, and franchise legend Carlos Baerga made sure to give him his flowers on Thursday.
He was particularly emphatic on how Cleveland needed a quality right-handed hitter.
“We need a good right-handed batter. He (Fry) was one of our best hitters in 2024 when he finished with 14 homers, 51 RBI, and a .263 batting average. He made the All-Star Game, got a base hit there, and was huge in the playoffs with that homer… I’ll never forget about that homer!” he said in his show.

Baerga also pointed out how Fry ‘showed up’ on Wednesday, getting an RBI.
It might take a while for him to get fully up to speed since he is coming off major elbow surgery in the fall and a long rehab that extended until not so long ago.
Still, we saw last year how impactful he can be.
He is still limited to DH duties, but once he is cleared to return to the field, he will go back to showing that useful combination of production and versatility that has fans excited.
Fry worked hard to transform himself and his career, from a player perpetually on the roster bubble to an All-Star caliber performer.
