The Cleveland Guardians’ offense is improving.
Little by little, unexpected contributors such as Gabriel Arias, Daniel Schneemann, Kyle Manzardo, and Angel Martinez develop and help the established veterans, such as Jose Ramirez and Carlos Santana, score runs.
Still, it’s clear that the unit is not the best in Cleveland, playing second-fiddle to the bullpen and even an improving rotation.
The lineup will have one of its toughest tests of the young season this upcoming weekend.
They will face second-year star Paul Skenes, the ace of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
“The #Guardians go to Pittsburgh this weekend, it looks like Paul Skenes would be scheduled to face Cleveland on Saturday at the moment,” Cleveland sports anchor Nick Camino posted on X.

Skenes, the reigning NL Rookie of the Year, took the league by storm in 2024 with a 1.96 ERA and an 11-3 record in 133 frames, punching out a whopping 170 hitters.
This year, he is still rounding into form, yet he is sporting a perfectly solid 2.96 ERA.
He has struck out 26 against just three walks in 24.1 innings.
If you were eager to see if the Guardians’ revamped offense is ready for tougher challenges, then Saturday is a perfect day.
Skenes will be pitching at home, at PNC Park, but the game is must-watch TV for Guardians fans not only because their team will be playing, but also because Skenes is widely recognized as a generational mound talent.
He has never faced Cleveland in his young career.
There is always a first time.
The Guards’ hitters better bring their A-game, though.
