The minor league season is still incredibly young, even younger than the MLB campaign.
We only have a few days worth of data, and that’s certainly not enough to make any definitive statements about anyone.
We can, however, say that Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Jorge Burgos looks amazing at the plate and we wouldn’t be lying.
You may not have heard much about Burgos, but you will.
He is on a tear with the Akron RubberDucks of Double-A, homering in four straight games.
“HE DOES IT AGAIN! Jorge Burgos has now homered in 4 consecutive games!” GuardsInsider posted on X.

Burgos is a 23-year-old outfielder whose playing time last year came mostly in High-A, with the Lake County Captains.
There, he hit 15 home runs in 71 games with a good, but not great 113 wRC+.
He spent some time in Double-A, but despite hitting three homers in 15 games, struggled badly with a 45 wRC+ and a 38.3 percent strikeout rate.
Well, it’s fair to say he has taken a step forward with his development in the last few months between the limited exposure to Double-A pitching and the offseason.
It’s not just the power binge: he looks better at the plate, slashing to strikeout rate to 15.8 percent, walking more often, and hitting the ball with authority.
He is slashing a cool .375/.474/1.250, with a 370 wRC+ in four games.
It’s still way too early and none of these stats will really matter until we re-visit the situation in a few weeks to see which gains have stuck.
Still, he seems to be doing better and has seemingly improved as a hitter.
