The baseball industry is divided when it comes to Cleveland Guardians prospect Travis Bazzana and his ETA (estimated time of arrival.)
Some believe that after striking out in over a quarter of his plate appearances last year in High-A, the Guards should take it slow with their prized prospect to see if he can make gains in the contact department in a low-stress environment.
Others are of the idea that Cleveland should fast-track him to the big leagues considering his excellent track record in Oregon State and his successful 2024 in pro ball (126 wRC+ in High-A.)
The Guardians placed him in Double-A, where he is off to a fast start.
In 15 plate appearances, he has seven hits: five singles, a double, and a home run, good for an excellent 1.446 OPS.
After watching him handle Double-A pitching like a seasoned veteran in his first three games there, fans and even some writers are eager to see Bazzana up as soon as he is ready.
They don’t want any type of service time manipulation.
“I’ve changed my stance on Travis Bazzana. I was wait and preserve Rookie status for a PPI draft pick for next season. If this club needs a boost mid-season and Bazzana is hitting well in Columbus call him up. CLE cannot waste the time they have with Jose Ramirez on the roster,” Guardians’ prospects writer Willie Hood posted on X.

Three games are definitely not enough to determine whether Bazzana is ready to handle upper-minors pitching or not.
He needs at least a month there, if not more.
After May or June, if the talented infielder keeps raking, you can expect to see him in Triple-A.
Whether he makes it to the majors or not remains to be seen, but if there is no doubt he is ready at some point in July or August, the Guardians will have no choice but to bring him up.
Hood is spot-on in one part of his analysis: there is no point in wasting another year of Jose Ramirez’s dwindling prime (he will turn 33 later in the year) if Bazzana is ready to be his sidekick.
