From Thursday to Sunday, each MLB team will play a game against another squad.
It won’t be a regular spring training game, though: it will boast each organization’s best prospects.
The initiative, called ‘Spring Breakout,’ has been a success: prospects enthusiasts and evaluators get to watch the stars of tomorrow showcase the best of their talent.
The Cleveland Guardians will take the field on Friday night against the Seattle Mariners.
The game will be at the Goodyear Ballpark, the Guards’ spring training home, at 8:05 pm ET.
Cleveland’s lineup has been confirmed.
“Cleveland #Guardians Spring Breakout starting lineup tonight vs the Mariners. DH Petey Halpin, 2B Travis Bazzana, LF Ralphy Velazquez, SS Angel Genao, C Cooper Ingle, 1B CJ Kayfus, CF Jaison Chourio, RF Alfonsin Rosario, 3B Welbyn Francisca. LHP Parker Messick,” Guardians Prospective posted on X.

It’s a very strong lineup, one that boasts speed (Halpin, Bazzana, Genao, Chourio, and Francisca) and power (Bazzana, Velazquez, Ingle, Kayfus, and Rosario,) among other attributes.
Bazzana and Chourio have excellent patience and plate discipline, and Genao exhibits incredible bat-to-ball skills.
The 24-year-old Messick, who posted a 2.83 ERA last year between High-A and Double-A, will take the hill for Cleveland.
These guys will go out to show the world why Cleveland is considered a top farm system with top-end talent and elite depth.
Not all of them will make the major leagues, but some of them will, and watching them on TV is well worth your time.
It’s truly a shame that it’s just one game.
