Every year, MLB Network reveals their top 100 players in the league.
Cleveland Guardians star Jose Ramirez, a perennial MVP candidate in the American League, checked in at ninth in this year’s ranking.
Some might say it’s a tad low for a player with his resume and ability.

Discussing Ramirez, the list, and the player’s impact as a Guardians star, former general manager and current analyst Steve Phillips suggested that J-Ram still doesn’t get the kind of recognition he deserves.
“He’s now in the top 10 players in baseball for the third time…within the game it’s recognized, but he just doesn’t get the notoriety of some of the other stars” @MLBNetwork’s @StevePhillipsGM on @afternoon923FAN on #Guardians Jose Ramirez,” 92.3 The Fan posted on X.

Truth be told, people have been gradually starting to realize what Ramirez means to Cleveland and what he has done for the league with each passing year.
Saying that he gets absolutely no recognition would be a lie.
However, it does appear that other stars in bigger markets get more attention than Ramirez.
Even players that aren’t in the same ballpark talent-wise have more name recognition.
True fans, however, know that there are just a handful of active players who might be considered better or more accomplished than the Guardians’ third baseman.
Even as he ages, Ramirez is capable of posting an OPS close to .900 (he was at .872 last season), racking up 114 runs, 118 RBI, 39 home runs, and 41 stolen bases in the same campaign.
Combine that with amazing defense at the hot corner, and you have a top-ten player in baseball.
Some day, other generations will understand the impact Ramirez had on Cleveland and MLB.
