Less than a month from now, the Cleveland Guardians and all MLB teams will be officially opening their facilities for the start of spring training.
Some would say that this is, in fact, the most wonderful time of the year.
The Guardians invited 23 players currently not on the 40-man roster to camp, a combination of prospects and outcasts vying for a spot.
They extended an invitation to three of their top 30 prospects, as they want to see what they are made of.
“The @CleGuardians extended non-roster Spring Training invites to three Top 30 prospects: 2. Chase DeLauter, 13. Cooper Ingle, 28. Ryan Webb,” MLB Pipeline posted on X.

DeLauter was a lock to be invited after his explosive spring last year.
Lower body injuries robbed him of a chance to make the majors in 2024, but he finished the season in Triple-A and was amazing in a short stint there.
With Columbus, DeLauter had a 185 wRC+ in six games, and before that, his wRC+ checked in at 118 in 30 Double-A games.
He is most likely ready for the big show right now, but the Guardians will probably have him start in Triple-A and stay there for a few weeks.
Unless he shines again in the spring, of course, and forces the team’s hand.
Ingle is a 22-year-old catcher who reached Double-A last year.
Between the Lake County Captains (High-A) and the Akron RubberDucks (Double-A), Ingle hit .305 with 11 home runs and a 160 wRC+ in 93 games.
He is a bat-over-defense prospect but has made strides behind the plate.
Webb is a solid lefty pitching prospect without an impressive ceiling, but one who posted a 2.80 ERA as a starter between Akron and Columbus last year.
It’s worth monitoring his progress from up close.
These three prospects will get a chance of a lifetime: if they impress, the likelihood of getting some MLB playing time at some point this year is very high.
