The Cleveland Guardians place a high value in defense, especially behind the plate.
They always make it a priority to employ at least one defensive stalwart in the catcher position, and to develop the skills related to the position in the minor leagues.
There are several excellent catching prospects in their system.
Logun Clark is not really a household name yet, but he has talent on his bat and on his arm.
He is a 21-year-old who got his feet wet last year on full-season ball, so he is still in the early stages of his development phase.
Footage of his training routine appeared on X, and you can see him working on his throwing strength and accuracy.
“Cleveland #Guardians 21yr old (C) prospect Logun Clark putting in work behind the dish back home in California. Clark posted an impressive 128 wRC+ with a .372 OBP to go along with 5 HR’s and 24 RBI’s over 32 games between the Arizona Complex League and (Low-A) Lynchburg in 2024,” Guardians Prospective wrote on X.

Those offensive numbers are very impressive.
Clark sure strikes out a lot (31 percent K% rate in two low level affiliates) but he has some power and knows how to take a walk.
So far, his career has gone well for a 16th-round pick.
With every level he completes, he defies the odds.
If he wants to have sustained success in the upper minors and, potentially, MLB, he will need to make contact more consistently, though.
His arm deserves praise, as does his quick movement towards second base to throw the ball.
This produces quality pop times.
He also has the potential to be a good framer, and that will come with experience.
Overall, the Guardians have a sneaky good catching prospect to work with and the video shows it.
