The Major League Baseball offseason has had some huge splash moves thus far including top free agent Juan Soto signing with the New York Mets.
Although many big-time players have changed teams, the Cleveland Guardians have remained relatively quiet for the most part.
The Guardians acquired first baseman Carlos Santana from the Minnesota Twins, but Santana is 38 years old and will be 39 before the 2025 season begins.
Santana will partially try to fill the shoes of Josh Naylor, whom the Guardians traded earlier this offseason.
MLB Analyst Scott Braun revealed that he does not like the Guardians’ move to trade Naylor.
“I’ll take Josh Naylor in his prime coming off of his first 30 home run season,” Braun said via Foul Territory on ‘X,’

Naylor came into the league in 2019 with the San Diego Padres where he played until the 2020 season when he came to the Guardians’ organization.
Coming off of his best career season in 2024, Braun disagrees with the decision to move on from him this offseason.
In 2024, Naylor played in 152 games where he batted .243 with 31 home runs, 108 RBIs, and a .776 OPS.
Naylor had career highs in runs scored, home runs, RBIs, and walks in 2024, and he appeared to be hitting his stride.
The Guardians acquired Santana who played 150 games for the Twins last season and batted .238 with 23 home runs, 71 RBIs, and a .749 OPS.
With plenty of time remaining this offseason, the Guardians will have the opportunity to add some more key players before trying to defend their American League Central title in 2025.
