Cleveland Guardians superstar third baseman Jose Ramirez keeps quietly chugging along and putting forth year after year of dominant offensive production for this small market franchise and never seems to get the credit he deserves.
While the franchise has some questions to answer this offseason in an effort to finally capture that ever-elusive World Series next season, Jose Ramirez comes with no question marks and former team legend Kenny Lofton didn’t hold back his thoughts recently when heaping praise upon the team’s superstar.
While speaking on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM recently, Lofton said “I will give Jose his credit…he is doing extraordinary” and added, “You get 2, 3 more years of Jose doing this…I would put him on the top with Eddie Murray and Chipper Jones as a switch-hitter.”

Lofton made six All-Star teams and knows a thing or two about what it takes to succeed in Cleveland, and his word holds a ton of weight.
If Lofton is saying that Ramirez is up there with Murray and Jones as far as switch-hitters go, that’s extremely high praise as both are in the Hall of Fame.
Ramirez still has a long way to go to catch those two in the stats department, and Lofton also didn’t bring up Mickey Mantle, who many consider to be the greatest switch-hitter of all time.
Regardless, it’s high praise for Ramirez and at just 32 years old coming off one of his best seasons, it’s clear he has a lot left in the tank and can hopefully anchor this lineup for many more years to come.
